Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of compound exercises using assistive training aids on developing selected defensive movements and the jump shot skill among junior handball players. The researcher employed an experimental design with two equivalent groups (experimental and control) using pre- and post-tests. The sample consisted of 20 junior handball players from a specialized handball training center, randomly assigned into two groups of 10 players each. The experimental group followed a training program based on compound exercises using assistive training aids for 10 weeks, with three training sessions per week, while the control group continued with the conventional training program. Data were collected through a defensive movement response test and a jump shot accuracy test and analyzed using SPSS software. The results revealed statistically significant improvements in both groups in favor of the post-tests, with the experimental group achieving superior performance compared to the control group in the post-test measurements. The study concluded that compound exercises using assistive training aids are effective in enhancing defensive movements and the jump shot skill among junior handball players.
