This study aimed to examine the impact of Bedouin values on the practice of physical activity among rural schoolgirls, and to identify how social and cultural factors such as nomadism, tribalism, traditional occupations, and family conservatism influence their participation in school sports activities. The study adopted a descriptive method, using a questionnaire as the main data collection tool. The sample consisted of 90 female students from different areas in the Wilaya of Tiaret (Mellako, Tousnina, and surrounding regions).
The results revealed that Bedouin values and socio-economic conditions, particularly nomadic lifestyle, family conservatism, and traditional occupations, significantly affect girls’ reluctance to participate in school physical activities. The findings also indicated a lack of awareness among parents and students regarding the importance of physical education. The study concluded that Bedouin values have a negative impact on school sports participation among rural girls, highlighting the need to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity and to provide psychological and social support for this group.
