Abstract

This study aimed to identify the role of parents in shaping their children's attitudes toward Physical Education and Sports (PES). To achieve the objectives of the study, a descriptive-analytical approach was adopted. The study was conducted on a purposive sample of 150 male students from Bouzarad Hussein Middle School in Annaba, Algeria.

Data were collected using the Edgington Scale for Attitudes toward Physical Education and Sports, in addition to a questionnaire. The findings revealed that a considerable proportion of the participants demonstrated moderate attitudes toward physical education and sports (38.54%). Furthermore, 26% of the students exhibited highly positive attitudes, whereas 19.61% showed low attitudes toward participation in physical education and sports activities.

The results also indicated a statistically significant relationship between the previous or current engagement of either parent (father or mother) in physical activity and the development of moderate to high positive attitudes toward physical education and sports among their children.
