Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of small-sided games on the development of selected motor abilities, specifically coordination and agility, among under-13 football players. An experimental research design was adopted. The study population and sample consisted of 28 U13 football players from Henchir Toumghani, Oum El Bouaghi Province, Algeria. The participants were randomly divided into two equivalent groups: a control group (n = 14) and an experimental group (n = 14). The experimental group followed a training program incorporating small-sided games, whereas the control group continued with the conventional training program without the inclusion of small-sided games. The intervention was conducted over eight weeks at a frequency of two training sessions per week. Coordination and agility were assessed before and after the training program using appropriate motor performance tests. The results a improvement in coordination and agility among the control group. In contrast, the experimental group showed a marked improvement in both motor abilities, indicating that training programs incorporating small-sided games are effective in enhancing coordination and agility in young football players.
