This study aims to investigate the impact of learning chess on the development of tactical thinking among senior female handball players. To achieve this objective, an experimental methodology was employed. The study sample consisted of 20 players who participated in a chess-training program specifically designed for this purpose. The program comprised five instructional units implemented over a 12-week period (three months), with two sessions per week, each lasting two hours. Tactical thinking was assessed using the Planned Action Scale.
Based on the findings, the researchers recommend incorporating chess as part of the mental preparation process for senior female handball players, given its potential to enhance tactical thinking.
