Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of physical self-concept among players of the Hashemite University Goalball Team and to examine the differences in physical self-concept according to the variable of academic specialization. The researchers employed the descriptive survey method. The study sample consisted of (12) players representing the Hashemite University team that participated in the First World University Eye Ball Championship in 2019. To collect data, the Physical Self-Description Scale developed by Mohamed Hassan Allawi was adopted. The scale consisted of (60) items distributed across ten domains. Validity and reliability of the instrument were verified, with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of (0.91). Means, standard deviations, and Independent Samples t-test were used for statistical analysis. The findings revealed that the level of physical self-concept among the players was high, with a mean score of (4.30). The results also indicated no statistically significant differences attributed to the variable of academic specialization. The researchers concluded that the high level of physical self-concept was one of the major factors contributing to the team’s achievement of first place in the first World University Eye Ball Championship. The study recommended paying greater attention to developing physical self-concept among players and conducting further psychological studies in the sport of Eye Ball.
