Abstract

This study aimed to identify the professional needs of Physical Education and Sports supervisors and inspectors in secondary schools in White Nile State, Kosti Locality, and to determine the extent to which the Ministry of Education provides the necessary resources and facilities to support their supervisory duties. The researchers employed the descriptive method due to its suitability for the nature of the study and used a questionnaire as the main data collection instrument. The study sample consisted of 30 Physical Education supervisors and inspectors selected randomly. Data were analyzed using SPSS through frequencies, percentages, Chi-square tests, and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient to ensure the reliability of the instrument. The findings revealed a significant need for training and professional development among Physical Education supervisors and inspectors. The results also indicated insufficient attention to continuous training programs and a lack of professional development opportunities that adequately meet their needs. Furthermore, the study showed inadequacies in the provision of material resources and facilities necessary for effective supervisory performance. The study recommended giving greater attention to the professional needs of supervisors and inspectors, increasing training and qualification programs, allocating sufficient budgets for professional development, and providing the necessary material resources to enhance the quality of educational supervision in Physical Education and Sports.
