Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between psychological skills and the effective performance index among young boxers competing in final bouts, while comparing winners and losers. The researcher adopted a descriptive correlational approach, collecting data through a psychological skills scale and performance analysis of actual boxing matches. The findings revealed statistically significant correlations between psychological skill dimensions and the effective performance index, with winners demonstrating stronger and more consistent relationships than losers. Mental imagery and achievement motivation emerged as the dimensions most strongly associated with effective performance, highlighting the importance of psychological preparation in enhancing athletic achievement. The study concluded that psychological skills are a key determinant of successful boxing performance and recommended integrating specialized psychological training programs into the preparation of young boxers.
