This study aims to examine the impact of physical and sports education on the level of social adjustment among visually impaired children aged 9 to 12 years, by comparing practicing and non-practicing groups at the Young Blind Center of El Achour (Algiers, Algeria). The study adopted a descriptive comparative research design. The Social Adaptation Scale, including sensorimotor and socio-emotional domains, was used as the main data collection instrument. The sample consisted of 50 visually impaired children equally divided into two groups. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups in both the sensorimotor and socio-emotional domains in favor of the children practicing physical and sports activities. These findings indicate the positive role of physical education in enhancing motor abilities and developing social and emotional skills. The study also highlights that regular sports participation contributes to improving social interaction, responsibility, and self-confidence among visually impaired children.
In conclusion, physical and sports education represents an effective pedagogical approach that supports the social integration and psychological well-being of visually impaired children.
