This study aimed to identify the role of traditional games in developing basic motor skills among preschool children in Khartoum State – Ombada locality. The descriptive survey method was adopted as it was appropriate for the nature of the study. The study population consisted of kindergarten teachers in Ombada locality – Al-Buqa’a West sector, totaling (120) teachers. A random sample of (80) teachers was selected.
A questionnaire was used as the main tool for data collection, and the data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicated that traditional games effectively contribute to the development and improvement of basic motor skills. In addition, traditional games are not classified according to gender (male/female). The findings also revealed that preschool teachers believe in the important role of traditional games in developing basic motor skills and are keen to select appropriate tools according to each developmental level.
